Sheryl Carr

Sheryl was born in Waxahachie, Texas, where her father attended bible college at Southwestern Assemblies of God. They soon moved to Bakersfield, CA where her father,
Pastor David G. Joyner accepted the position of Choir Director at Greenfield Assembly of God, later to be renamed Liberty Christian Center. She graduated from West High and attended Bakersfield College and studied writing. In 2006 she was inspired to write the book “Little Drop and the Healing Place,” a children’s book about diabetes. Her inspiration comes from three of their grandchildren and eldest son, who live with Type 1 Diabetes.
Her father became Senior Pastor of Liberty Christian Center in 1968 and served faithfully for 35 years, until his retirement in 2002. She accepted Christ at an early age and feels blessed to have grown up a P.K. (Pastor’s Daughter) He passed away in 2008. His legacy now continues in her, as she joins the Pastoral Staff of LCC. While serving in the Choir and Worship Ministry for many years, she developed her gifts and passion for God, through helping teach and equipping people in Worship Ministry. In 2015 God called and equipped her to become our Worship Pastor. Hebrews 13:20-21 says; Now may the God of peace…equip you with everything good for doing His will, and may He work in us what is pleasing to Him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. 1 Thessalonians 5:24 – Faithful is He that calleth you, who also will do it. Whatever God has called you to do, He is completely faithful. He will give you whatever you need to accomplish the tasks He has given you to do for His glory. Amen.
Sheryl and her husband Rodger have three amazing sons and three beautiful daughter-in-laws; David & Melody, Darren & Shana and Derek & Heather. Their children have blessed them with nine awesome grandchildren. She’s devoted to her family, loves football, playing her guitar, fishing trips with her family, music and spending time in God’s Word.
